Arrowhead Game Studios‘ CEO has admitted that the reception to Helldivers 2: Escalation Of Freedom hasn’t been as positive as it hoped, thanks largely to the latest round of nerfs.While Escalation of Freedom introduced a wealth of new content to the table, including a new foe to battle and a spooky biome, its balance changes haven’t been very well received by the fanbase. On the one hand the update had a bunch of stuff that aren’t getting talked about. Maybe deservedly so – as many aren’t happy with the latest balance round. I think more broadly it also has us discussing the path ahead and what we can do to avoid this situation again.“I think a lot of you fairly point out “Wtf – we went through this earlier this year. Why are we here again?,” the CEO added, explaining that occasionally “long lead times on development” result in various issues for the development team. “What you see is the result of weeks and months of development work, some changes take time before they show.”Helldivers 2 launched for PS5 and PC back in February 2024 and became one of the biggest games of the year to date. Back in May, Jorjani explained that Arrowhead’s goal for the long term is to ‘make more and better stuff,’ having confirmed that it will reduce the frequency of Helldivers 2 updates going forward.[Source – GamesRadar]
