Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries has released the first video in a four-part series that dives into different aspects of the game’s Forge mode, giving us an overview of the tools at our disposal. Forge is a mode that’s been a staple of the series since its introduction in Halo 3, and while it was initially designed as an object layout editor, it’s grown into a full map creator, which allows players to build maps and environments from scratch or re-design existing ones to suit their needs. Halo Infinite’s winter update will add Forge mode alongside campaign co-op for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.Halo Infinite Forge Fundamentals four-part seriesThe first video in the Halo Infinite Forge Fundamentals four-part series is based on the mode’s building mechanics. 343 Industries’ Forge lead designer Michael Schorr and multiplayer level designer Cliff Schuldt showcase some of the results you can achieve by using this latest edition of the editor — for an even closer look, check out these creations from a leaked build on PC.Halo Infinite launched Forge-less, and while the beta version of the mode is expected to launch this November, with the winter update, it’s not until Season 3 in 2023 that the full launch is expected. Using the latest mode, you’ll find a redo/undo button for the first time, object scaling, even more objects than were previously available in the series, bigger budgets to spend, fresh terrain pieces, colour editing, scripting, magnets, object naming, and more. It’s a feature-packed upgrade compared to what was available in Halo 5, but whether it’ll be able to bring the game back into players’ good graces will be interesting to see. 343i is yet to say when the beta phase for Halo Infinite’s Forge mode will be added or how you’ll be able to try it out yourself. If you want to stand the best chance of trying out the upcoming tools, we’d recommend signing up for the Halo Insider program; it’s completely free and uses your Microsoft account credentials when you register.
