Rockstar has now detailed what we can expect from Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on Xbox Series X|S, including new graphics modes, faster loading times character migration, and more. Rockstar says the Xbox Series X|S version of GTA 5, which launches on March 15th, will feature three new graphics settings. Fidelity Mode will offer the “highest visual quality” while targeting 30fps. On Xbox Series X, the game will support native 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled, while on Series S, you’ll get upscaled 4K. Performance Mode targets 60fps and supports an upscaled resolution of 4K, while on Series S, it will support a 1080p resolution. The final mode is Performance RT mode, which is only available on Xbox Series X. Rockstar says this is a “hybrid of the Fidelity and Performance modes supporting upscaled 4K resolution with ray tracing enabled and targeting 60fps.”You can also expect “across-the-board improvements,” such as faster loading times, increased population and traffic, increased vegetation density, improved lighting across shadows and water reflections, and “improved anti-aliasing, motion-blur, highly detailed new explosions, fire, and much more.”Unfortunately, Rockstar hasn’t mentioned if we’ll get a new stack of Grand Theft Auto V achievements to unlock. As for GTA Online, which will also be available as a standalone title for the first time, Rockstar says you can expect “an assortment of new quality-of-life improvements, including a newly designed introduction and tutorial for new players, a new front-end Main Menu that allows you to jump directly into Freemode, Heists, Races, Adversary Modes, the latest featured weekly event content, and more.” A new ‘Career Builder’ feature is also included with the current-gen version of GTA Online that gives new players or those who wish to start from scratch “an introductory leg up” to the game, giving them GTA$4 million to purchase properties, vehicles, and weapons. Those on Xbox One will be able to transfer their GTA 5 story mode progress and their GTA Online character progress to the Xbox Series X|S version of the game “or across console platforms, with a one-time migration for each.” Rockstar says you can start this process today for your GTA 5 story mode progress by uploading a save to the Rockstar Games Social Club. For more on that process, check out the post from Rockstar. On March 15th, providing you have Rockstar Games Social Club account, you will be able to migrate your GTA Online character progress to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S “upon loading up the game on either of these new consoles.” This migration will include characters, GTA$, progression, stats, vehicles, properties, weapons, clothing, and player-created jobs. However, purchased GTA$ can only be migrated between console families, so your purchased cash won’t transfer from Xbox One to PS5, for example. Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online launch for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 on March 15th. Will you be checking out the current-gen versions of either? Let us know down in the comments!
