Game data platform GRID has announced a new multi-year partnership with esports tournament organiser BLAST.
As a result of the deal, all esports data and live streaming feeds from BLAST’s Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 events will be available on the GRID Data Platform. Moreover, GRID will provide BLAST with ‘integrity solutions’ powered by its data technologies.
The GRID Data Platform is the company’s comprehensive portfolio of official esports data that aims to be used to drive fan engagement. Alongside BLAST, GRID has data-focused collaborations with the likes of Riot Games and Ubisoft. The integration of BLAST’s esports data will start in November with the BLAST Dota Slam.
According to a release, the new deal with BLAST also covers the joint development of data-driven products. GRID noted that new data solutions developed through the partnership will be available to BLAST’s partners as well as GRID’s data monetisation services.
This is not the first time that GRID and BLAST have collaborated. In fact, the two companies have worked together since 2018. However, the previous partnership only included the tournament organiser’s endeavours in Counter-Strike. Since then, BLAST itself has expanded into a range of other esports ecosystems, notably Fortnite via the FNCS, Rocket League via the RLCS, Rainbow Six and Dota 2.
Discussing the partnership, Charlie Hanley-Nickolls, Chief Procurement Officer at GRID, stated: “BLAST and GRID share a strong belief that technology is the backbone of a connected, interactive, and well-monitored esport.
“Integrating GRID’s game-title-agnostic data infrastructure with BLAST’s tournament solutions, we can equip any game across any genre with a comprehensive, data-driven ecosystem. Together we aim to elevate esports with enhanced broadcast experiences, innovative fan engagement tools, and sustainable revenue streams.”
