Gothic 1 Remake Has A 2025 Release Window, Says Alkimia Interactive

Spotted by TechRaptor, we finally have a release window for the upcoming Gothic 1 Remake from developer Alkimia Interactive.In a New Year’s post on the game’s Steam page from the developer, the studio said “For us, 2025 will be a truly key year,” while continuing to say that the team is working hard to make the return to the Valley of Mines everything fans expect it to be and more.However this post and the studio’s excitement for 2025 stirred the ire of an internet commenter, who (incorrectly) claimed that the studio was withholding the game’s release date, after claiming it would be out in 2024 and then saying nothing further.In response, the studio’s community manager stated the truth of the situation, that no release window or release date had ever been officially announced from the team – and then went on to give us our first official comment on Gothic 1 Remake’s release, saying “The game will be released in 2025.”The last time we got a good look at the Gothic 1 Remake was back in August during publisher THQ Nordic’s annual showcase for 2024. It was the first time proper gameplay was shown off, but no release date – or window – was mentioned.Of course, it’s anyone’s guess as to why the person commenting believed the team had said it was coming in 2024, since there’s been no release date information given (until now, of course) going back to when the game was first announced in 2020.But if not for their mistake, we wouldn’t have the first actual report of a release date. So that’s something.
