We’ve seen a flurry of activity surrounding the GoldenEye 007 remaster recently, suggesting that a release or announcement is imminent, but if you need further proof that Rare is busy working on this game, its achievement list has just been updated. We picked up the GoldenEye 007 achievements back in January, and since then it’s been radio silence from Rare and Microsoft on the so-far-unannounced remaster. Recently, the achievements were spotted on the Xbox website along with stat tracking across six different categories, but digging a little deeper, we’ve noticed that Rare has also updated several achievement names and added some new achievement art. GoldenEye 007 achievement changesWhen comparing the achievement list that we first scanned in back in January to the list that was discovered over on Xbox.com, we can see that Rare has updated the names of 11 different achievements. Some are quite simple changes while others have been altered completely. One achievement that referenced Dr. Doak, a double agent who works in the Arkangelsk chemical weapons facility that was named after original GoldenEye 007 developer David Doak, has been changed removing the reference. For those that played the cancelled Xbox 360 GoldenEye 007 remaster that leaked online last year, you may have noticed that Dr. Doak was replaced with “Dr. Rakhmanov.” Perhaps Dr. Doak isn’t present in this version of the game either. Here are the achievements that have been changed:In terms of achievement art, the Xbox.com list shows that 15 achievements (the majority multiplayer achievements) have been updated with new art: We can’t say when exactly these changes occurred but we think they happened recently. The updated names and new achievement art clearly show that Rare is busy working away and tidying up a few things in the GoldenEye 007 remaster — perhaps the team is getting the game in top shape for a surprise release during this week’s Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase? Fingers crossed!Do you think the GoldenEye 007 remaster will be shown on Sunday? Let us know!
