Tech company GGTech Entertainment has appointed Kathy Chiang as its new Chief Operating Officer for North America.
Through her new role, Chiang aims to boost GGTech’s development and bring collegiate esports series UNIVERSITY Esports to the region.

Through a post on LinkedIn, Kathy Chiang said: “We look forward to bringing UNIVERSITY Esports to North America, using the inspiration and knowledge from its inception seven years ago in Spain and current operations in three continents while leveraging our team’s experience in the United States and Canada to identify the most meaningful ways to continue supporting and engaging with students.”
Chiang started her career as a grassroots esports organiser at the University of California, Irvine in 2012 before serving five years as Assistant Director for its esports department. She is currently serving as an ONSIDE Gaming Advisory Committee Member for Women Win, providing guidance for a new fund around women and girls entering esports and gaming.
In addition, Chiang is also part of Voice of Intercollegiate Esports (VOICE), a collegiate esports nonprofit organisation.

In 2020, GGTech partnered with Amazon to launch the first season of Amazon University Esports, a competitive series that debuted in the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy.
Esports Insider says: Kathy Chiang is well-versed in collegiate esports and GGTech is wise to employ her as a COO for its new headquarters in NA. The company has shown interest in collegiate esports by creating University Esports, so it’s not a surprise to see the firm target North America.
