Bellator 264: Gegard Mousasi vs. John Salter full live results and highlights.
Bellator 264 went down on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. ET on YouTube. Following the three-fight preliminary card, the main card was seen on Showtime. Although several fights had been scratched, we were still left with eight intriguing matchups.
In the headliner, MMA legend Gegard Mousasi looked to defend his middleweight championship for the first time against John Salter. At 36 years old, Mousasi has fought against some of the greatest fighters of all time across the top promotions worldwide. After beating the previous champion Douglas Lima, Mousasi had plans to hold onto the middleweight title for a long time. On the contrary, Salter had finally earned his title shot with a Bellator record of 8-1. Not only is his promotional record impressive, but Salter also finished all but one of his wins. Both fighters wanted to leave with the middleweight title, but only one can come out victorious.
The co-main event featured two of Bellator’s most unpredictable fighters. Welterweights Sabah Homasi and Andrey Koreshkov ended up going to war. Holding a record of 23-4, Koreshkov came into this fight as a huge betting favorite. Koreshkov is one of the most credentialed Bellator fighters, and he tried to add Homasi’s name to his list of victims. With that being said, Homasi has the potential to finish anyone in his path. At 32 years old, Homasi has a pro record of 15-9 with a Bellator record of 3-1. After starting his Bellator tenure 3-0, Homasi lost his last fight against Paul Daley in a potential fight of the year. Homasi now had the opportunity to get back on track against the always dangerous Koreshkov.
The remainder of the fight card featured three preliminary fights and three other main card fights. One must-see matchup was Magomed Magomedov and Raufeon Stots. Another interesting fight was the first matchup of the night between pro debutants Orlando Mendoza and Jon McNeil. Let’s take a look at the results and highlights for Bellator 264.
