Bellator competes against PFL on Friday night during a rare off weekend for the UFC.

After a two-week hiatus, Bellator is back with a full slate of fights from Mohegan Sun that should make up for a traditional MMA weekend fix. In the night’s main event, Gegard Mousasi will look to defend his middleweight championship against John Salter at Bellator 264.

In the third fight on the main card, Raufeon Stots also makes his return against Magomed Magomedov, and Pam Sorenson headlines the preliminary portion. The card will feature 11 fights, and as per usual, air on Showtime in the U.S.

Here are three reasons to check out Friday night’s event.

1. Gegard Mousasi looks for his third-straight

Mousasi is in the midst of his second title reign as a member of the Bellator roster. Having said that, he is also looking for his third-straight win if he can get past Salter. Mousasi has defeated the likes of Rory MacDonald, Lyoto Machida, and Douglas Lima over the course of the last three years. He currently enters the bout at 47-7-2, spanning an extensive career that dates back to April 2003.

2. Raufeon Stots seeks nine in a row

Stots has been on a tear since his highlight-reel KO loss to current UFC veteran, Merab Dvalishvili, in June 2017. After his first and only defeat, Stots has dominated every opponent he has faced. Upon joining the Bellator roster in December 2019, Stots has conquered names such as Cass Bell, Keith Lee, and Josh Hill en route to his upcoming bout with Magomedov Friday night. Stots enters the bout at 16-1, as he looks to keep his four-year unbeaten streak alive with another victory.

3. Pam Sorensen makes her return to MMA

Featherweight Pam Sorensen makes her long-awaited return to MMA after almost two years away from the cage. Sorensen is 8-3 as a professional and has fought some notable names throughout her short career thus far, including current UFC fighters Jessica Rose-Clark and Felicia Spencer.

Sorensen’s last win came in August 2019 against Kaitlin Young, earning a five-round unanimous decision win in the Invicta FC 36 main event. Sorensen’s return will see her take on Roberta Paim Samad during the prelims at Bellator 264 Friday night.

Bellator 264 takes place on Aug. 13, 2021, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena, Uncasville, CT. Follow along with FanSided for all your live news and highlights.
