Gears 5 Operation 8 to add a new map, characters, and a sizeable batch of achievements

The Coalition has dropped a new trailer for the final Operation coming to Gears 5. Operation 8 launches on August 3rd and will include a new map, characters, and achievements.Operation 8’s full reveal is coming later today, but in the meantime, The Coalition has teased us with the above trailer. New characters include Bernie Mataki, “a long-serving Gear and legendary sharpshooter,” and high priest Ketor Vrol who is “consumed with hate and focused on wiping out humanity.” The new map coming with Operation 8 is Ritual, which is located in the “heart of the Galangi Islands,” and there’s also a new Tour of Duty for players to complete. The Coalition did previously announce that Operation 8 would introduce a fresh batch of achievements and has confirmed to us that a fairly sizeable list is coming with the update on August 3rd. While we can’t say much on the achievements, in terms of Gamerscore, Operation 8’s achievement list is worth more than any other previous update Gears 5 has seen.Back in May, TC Shauny, The Coalition’s senior community manager, confirmed that Operation 8 would be Gears 5’s last Operation but also announced that there will still be things to do after its release, including a Tour of Duty that will continually refresh.
