We are just hours away from Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase for 2023, which takes place tomorrow, August 22 at 7pm BST / 8pm CEST, and which Keighley says will be more about updates on upcoming games than new game reveals. Keighley’s shared a few hints of what we’ll see during tomorrow’s event, as well as his annual hype video, which you can check out below…Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 hints at which games will be featuredWe knew already that we’ll see a new Alan Wake 2 reveal, but Keighley confirmed on X that Opening Night Live will also feature Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Lords of the Fallen, both of which are due out in October, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, which is due for November, and Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion (which is due for September), as well as Black Myth: WuKong, Crimson Desert, and Sonic Superstars, none of which yet have release dates. Mortal Kombat 1 was also confirmed to be featured during the event, when it’ll show a new gameplay trailer revealing two fighters and more.Meanwhile, Keighley’s hype video gives a glimpse of several other games, including Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, although it’s not yet clear whether all the games featured in the video will appear during Opening Night Live.Keighley had previously set out to manage expectations by reiterating that Gamescom’s Opening Night Live will be more about updates on upcoming games, and he again emphasises this, saying, “Lots of great games on stage, primarily focused on announced titles — and there are so many. Like ONL in past years, this is not a show with surprise announcements or ‘one more things.'”As for Gamescom in general, we know that the Xbox booth will be “bigger than ever” with Stalker 2 and more titles playable in “world debuts,” and theatre presentations for Starfield, Forza Motorsport, and more.
