The lone Sony-developed franchise on Xbox Game Pass will no longer be launching on the service day-one, it has been revealed. San Diego Studio’s MLB: The Show 25 will not only skip Microsoft’s subscription service, it’s also dropping support for last gen, much to dismay of franchise fans still on the PS4.

Sony’s MLB The Show has been launching on Game Pass since 2021

Following a multiplatform push from franchise owner MLB, Sony has been releasing MLB: The Show games on Xbox consoles since 2021. All of the games thus far have launched day-one on Game Pass — a decision Sony previously distanced itself from. That will change for the first time with MLB: The Show 25.

“MLB The Show 25 will launch on March 18, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch,” reads a post on the PS Blog. “The game will not be on platform subscription services in 2025. Early Access begins on March 14, for anyone who purchases the Digital Deluxe Edition.” Preorders for all editions will begin on February 4.

MLB: The Show will star three athletes for the first time to mark the franchise’s 20th anniversary: Paul Skenes, Elly De La Cruz, and Gunnar Henderson.
