We’ll need to wait a little while longer to begin collecting the Frostpunk 2 achievements, as 11 bit studios has delayed Frostpunk 2 until September 20, 2024. The highly anticipated Xbox simulation game was initially expected to launch on PC in July, followed by an Xbox Series X|S release sometime later. Whether it’ll now launch on both platforms at the same time or not is currently unclear, but we’ll need to wait until September to play it at the very least.Frostpunk 2 delayed to September 20, 2024As announced on the official Frostpunk 2 X account, the delay is related to the feedback the team received from the Frostpunk 2 beta a couple of months ago. “Your observations, along with the existing backlog of features that we were already working on, made us realize that we can prioritize things better to guarantee you have the best possible experience at launch,” 11 bit says. “We know that this is not the news you wanted to hear. However, we believe that these additional features are something you deserve to see in-game from day one, not in a patch added after the release.”A deep dive on Steam reveals that 11 bit will be adding new game mechanics to Frostpunk 2 in the coming months, tweaking the in-game temperature, heat and proximity gameplay, improving workforce management, ways to reshape districts after they’ve been constructed, and more. The UI will receive a rework to make it more intuitive, a new construction menu will be added alongside five new city Hubs, and the Idee Tree and frostland will receive readability and clarity improvements. The team will also add a new city feature called Zoom Stories, which gives you the ability to zoom into specific parts of your city to watch the daily activities of your citizens. While we need to wait a little longer to play its sequel, the fantastic Frostpunk is available in the Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass libraries, and we highly recommend you check it out if you enjoy morally-challenging sim management games.
