Sherlock Holmes will be returning to Xbox soon, with Frogwares announcing that it is working on a full remake and rewrite of classic Cthulhu mythos-fuelled PC adventure Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened for modern systems.Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will be a retelling of the original adventure for the world-famous detective, sending him off on his first major case with newly-recruited sidekick John Watson after settling in London — a globe-trotting mystery infused with Lovecraftian themes. “We’ve always wanted to remake this game at some point, but the war has forced us into making it now,” explains producer Denys Chebotarov. “By working on a title that has the bulk of its content, scope, and narrative all locked in place after just a few weeks, we are giving ourselves a much more predictable and structured development cycle. And stability and predictability is exactly what we need right now while the rest of our days remain so uncertain.”Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened remake coming to XboxGiven the Ukrainian developer’s current struggle, the team will be launching a Kickstarter campaign in the near future to help secure additional funding for the project. “This war is continually throwing new challenges at us that each time requires we stop, regroup and adapt. This takes time, effort, and in some cases money that would normally be marked to fund the production of a game,” says Frogwares’ Sergey Oganesyan. “We also know we have a group of dedicated fans who enjoy and support our games and want to help us as best as they can right now. Through Kickstarter, we can offer these fans the chance to buy our next game now and be rightfully credited for their support in the game itself while also helping to determine some of the game’s final content and giving them a few extra rewards and bonuses.”It’s a little strange to see Frogwares announce a new project like this so soon after the Xbox One version of previous title Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One was postponed indefinitely, but still, The Awakened getting a full remake is great news and we’ll gladly support the team’s ongoing efforts however we can.Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened will be coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One (as well as PC, PS5, PS4, and Switch), although no release window has been announced at this time.
