The King arrives in Fortnite on July 14.
Fortnite Battle Royale fans are two days away from the most anticipated cosmetic release in quite some time. Rumors began mere days ago during Epic Games’ company-wide summer break that LeBron James would eventually become an in-game character outfit. A hand-painted mural in Chicago kicked off the anticipation, and leaks shortly after confirmed that the four-time NBA Champion would join Fortnite’s ICON Series.
All signs point to a July 14 release date, and while Epic has not directly referenced this monumental release, we now have our first look at what the NBA legend himself will look like in-game.

Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR posted The King’s complete ICON Series style selections, including a Space Jam version. This version confirms that the July 14 release date is no coincidence, considering the latest installment to the Space Jam series will hit theaters and HBO Max this Friday, July 16. The other two styles feature LeBron James in a taco t-shirt with shorts and a jacket with lion shoulder pads and the crown first seen in the Chicago mural. A similar crown went to creators such as Ali “SypherPK” Hassan and World Cup winner Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf as part of a marketing campaign.

Epic Games release a blog post and trailer shortly after publishing this article. The video depicts LeBron’s in-game character flying into Fortnite’s atmosphere and crash landing in all his glory. Epic’s blog post revealed the remainder of cosmetics that fans can expect to see in the Item Shop on July 14 at 8 PM EST.
