The battle between the Imagined Order (IO) and The Seven is underway.
Teasers ahead of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 came at a premium. Epic Games kept their cards close to their chest in the days leading into this new season. While fans generally knew what to expect, precise details and leaks remained the bare minimum.
Following a 3 AM ET downtime, information regarding Chapter 3 Season 2 arrived in droves via social media. Dubbed The Resistance, Fortnite’s latest seasonal storyline revolves around an in-game battle between Zero Point protectors “The Seven” and antagonist group “Imagined Order.”
Today, ESTNN brings you everything you need to know about the newest season of Fortnite Battle Royale. There’s a lot to digest, so let’s get right into the details.

No Building to Start the Season
Recent rumors in the scene pointed towards Epic’s development of a “No Build” mode. This game type would eliminate Fortnite’s fundamental building mechanic from the equation. The developers have taken this concept and bumped it to another level. We learned following the downtime that players will not be able to build for the first seven days of Chapter 3 Season 2, in core game modes (Solo, Duo, Trio and Squad).
While concern might befall some players, it appears this is an opportunity for Epic Games to promote an entirely new game mode. No Build could remain in Fortnite as a separate playlist for seasons to come. We’ll have to wait for more information regarding these plans.
New Mechanic: Sprinting
The long-rumored “tactical sprint” is now officially a Fortnite mechanic. Sprinting aligns with the no-building concept, where movement will be much more critical than before. Players can initiate a sprint and reference a separate meter to determine when they’ll run out.
New Mechanic: Mantling

Parkour is now in Fortnite. Removing Fortnite’s building mechanic forced Epic to create new innovative movement options. Now, players can sprint and utilize the “Mantle” mechanic. The video above showcases mantling—jumping from one building to another and hoisting yourself up the ledge.
New Mechanic: Overshield
Epic has introduced a new Overshield into Fortnite in coordination with the no building. Described as a player’s first line of defense, opponents can deal damage to your Overshield before affecting your Shield and Health. It’s unclear whether this will remain once the no-building period concludes.
