No matter your views on live service games, Fortnite’s relentless stream of new content is a thing to behold. However, even Epic can’t resist the lure of nostalgia, as the imminent Chapter 2 Remix mini-season looks to throw things back once again to a prime era of the battle royale. While there have been plenty of leaks and some teasers from Epic too, it has now finally confirmed that there will indeed be a proper in-game event leading up to Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix and that there’s a “tuneful twist” to come.
Over the course of the last few days, some short and rewound teaser clips for the new Fortnite season have been posted that show footage from old Chapter 2 trailers. However, a lot of the skins in these trailers have been edited with new appearances, which are almost certainly reimagined versions of the original skins that will feature in the battle pass or the in-game store. Aside from that, official details from Epic about Chapter 2 Remix have been thin on the ground – until today.
In a new post on the official Fortnite X account, Epic confirms that “we’re going back to the Chapter 2 Island” and that there will be “splashes of content from the earliest seasons,” which appears to rule out some of the memorable later themes of Chapter 2, such as the Cubed era where mysterious cubes infested the island.
It also confirms that there will be a live event, with more information following soon. As is often the case with in-game Fortnite events, this will likely take place the day before the new season begins and be followed by a period of downtime, but we’re still yet to get an official word on that.
Lastly, Epic teases that Chapter 2 Remix “comes with a tuneful twist.” As for what this could be, leaks have heavily suggested that music producer and DJ Marshmello (who famously hosted the game’s first ever in-game concert) will be back in some capacity for the pre-Chapter 2 event. Snoop Dogg has also been rumored and teased by Epic as appearing in the game in some capacity. Aside from these potential cameos, or there being new content in Fortnite Festival, I’m not sure what else the “tuneful twist” could be.
While it still needs to be officially confirmed by Epic, Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix is expected to start on Saturday, November 2, with the in-game event preceding it on Friday, November 1. This is when the current battle pass ends.
