If you thought Starfield could benefit from some improvements (whether or not you loved working through the Starfield achievements and think it’s one of the best Xbox Game Pass games out there), then you’re not alone, as former Bethesda designer Bruce Nesmith has commented on the potential of a Starfield sequel to say it would be “be one hell of a game” with the potential to iron out a lot of those issues.Former Bethesda designer Bruce Nesmith explains why he’s “looking forward to Starfield 2″“When we built Skyrim, we had the tremendous advantage of Oblivion, which had the tremendous advantage of Morrowind. All that stuff was there for us. All we had to do was continue to improve and add new stuff in,” says Nesmith, whose work as design director at Bethesda included the role of lead designer for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (thanks, Video Gamer). “We didn’t have to start from the ground up. If we’d had to start from the ground up, that would have been another two or three years of development time. I’m looking forward to Starfield 2. I think it’s going to be one hell of a game because it’s going to address a lot of the things people are saying, ‘We’re quite there. We’re missing a little bit.’ It will be able to take what’s in there right now and put in a lot of new stuff and fix a lot of those problems.”There’s been no word on a Starfield sequel yet, since the first game is still fairly new, and we’ve only just had its Shattered Space expansion (which led to an 87% increase in Xbox players). Indeed, Starfield, the hype before its launch, and the reception of it afterwards, continues to cause discussion. Just recently, design director Emil Pagliarulo described Starfield as Bethesda’s “best game” in “a lot of ways”, commenting on how the Bethesda team worked to “make something totally different. To just jam into an Xbox the biggest, richest space simulation RPG anyone could imagine.”The TrueAchievements team tends to go back and forth in discussions on whether or not Starfield ranks as one of the best Xbox RPGs, but if Bethesda does “jam” a Starfield sequel “into an Xbox,” it seems likely that sequel would indeed improve on the rougher areas of the first game and round it out a little more.
