Hot on the heels of the reveal of the Xbox Mini Fridge at the weekend, Bungie has revealed its intent to join Microsoft in the appliance market. Presenting the Destiny Toaster!Available for preorder now on the Bungie store, the Destiny Toaster is a real thing that actually exists. In case you’re not in on the joke, the design is based on the ever-annoying Destiny 2 Exotic Fusion Rifle, Jötunn — jokingly referred to as “the toaster” by many Guardians. And now, it actually is a toaster. Wild.Weird as this may seem, it’s Bungie staying true to its word after challenging fund-raising fans last year. “In June 2020, the Destiny Community raised more than $800,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during Bungie’s livestream supporting Gaming Community Expo (GCX),” explains the store listing. “During the livestream, Bungie announced that if we hit $777,777.77, we would look into offering an Official Destiny Toaster.” At $84.99, it’s certainly not the most affordable toaster you’ll ever own, although if there’s a better way to combine a love of crumpets with a passion for Destiny, we’ve yet to see it. 10% of profits will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and Guardians looking to heat things up can also look forward to getting a free sandwich holder with the toaster, as well as an exclusive in-game Emblem, Burnt Edges.
