This time next week, we’ll be teaching vampires that they should fear us more than the sun in the sleepy town of Redfall. With that in mind, we’d love to know which of the four heroes you’ll be using. While many of you might be holding off on playing Redfall next week due to it only offering 30fps on Xbox Series X|S at launch, we would still love to know which of the four heroes has your attention the most.Luke explained that he is now looking forward to the game after playing it during a Redfall hands-on, saying: “I’ve grown ever-more optimistic about Redfall since its initial reveal, and getting to play it only fed into that more, so I’m very much looking forward to getting some more hands-on time, especially with a few friends in tow.” With only a week to go until the Redfall release date, we figured now is a great time to take a look at each hero and what they’ll be offering us when Redfall launches on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Game Pass, and PC Game Pass.Meet the four Redfall heroesDevinder CrousleyAfter a book tour saw him visit the quiet town of Redfall right before the place was overrun with bloodthirsty creatures, Devinder now uses his expertise as an aspiring inventor and cryptozoologist to help fight back against the growing threat. His previous inventions designed to hunt supernatural phenomena never really panned out, but now that they’re very much alive and kicking, it turns out his toys are pretty useful.Using his Translocate ability, Devinder is able to throw a translocation beacon that he can use to transport to, leaving behind a second device for his allies to use. Once upgraded, both beacons will emit a shockwave to stagger enemies, as well as act like decoys for an easy escape. As a more offensive-style skill, Devinder’s Arc Javelin can be thrown at enemies and surfaces to create a lightning hazard that will electrocute nearby enemies, which can be upgraded to increase its range and fire an additional bolt to chain enemies. Finally, his modified camera rig has been enhanced with a UV light for his Blacklight skill, which petrifies vampires and staggers humans. Once upgraded, the light can offer increased range, burst healing, and the ability to shatter petrified enemies at the end of its duration.Jacob BoyerEx-military sharpshooter Jacob came to Redfall as a member of an elite private military force just before the vampire uprising. Now separated from his platoon, Jacob uses his skills to stalk the streets on the hunt for supernatural prey with his raven sidekick.Jacob’s Raven skill commands his feathery friend to fly forward, marking enemies in its path. Once upgraded, the raven’s scan radius is increased, and cooldown times can be lowered — it can also damage enemies for you as well. Feeding into his training as a sharpshooter, Jacob can hide from enemies using his Cloak skill, thanks to the stolen Bellwether Cloak he wears. Once upgraded, the skill’s duration can be increased, Jacob can pass through tripwires without setting them off, and the skill can even extend to Jacob’s companions. Finally, the Heartstopper skill summons a ghostly rifle that locks onto enemies when you’re looking through the scope, dealing huge amounts of damage when fired. When upgraded, the rifle can be used for longer, and even hit marked enemies through walls.Layla EllisonAfter moving to Redfall from Wisconsin, Layla studied biomedical engineering and volunteered for a medical trial at the Aevum Therapeutics research facility. The trial apparently didn’t go to plan, and it left Layla with telekinetic abilities — we don’t know about you, but we think it went pretty well!Using her telekinetic powers, Layla can use the Umbrella skill to summon a psychic umbrella to block both enemy and friendly projectiles. Once upgraded, the umbrella’s recharge time can be lowered, it can emit a psychic blast to damage enemies, and even trigger a psychic explosion when the blast hits an enemy. Her Lift skill, meanwhile, allows Layla to launch into the air and offers upgrades to toss enemies around, as well as unleashing psychic blasts when it’s triggered. The wonderfully named Vampire Ex-Boyfriend skill does exactly as the name suggests: calls in a favour from Layla’s ex-boyfriend Jason, who is indeed a vampire. Jason attacks enemies in the area, and once upgraded, he can inflict even more damage on his victims, and even heal Layla and her friends.Remi De La RosaRemi is a combat engineer, and having spent much of her life on the frontlines of various battlefields as part of a Navy rescue unit, she is no stranger to the horrors of war. Much like Jacob, Remi also has a companion to explore Redfall with — except that it’s a robot called Bribón.Using her Mobilize skill, Remi is able to create a rallying point to heal her and her allies, which increases in effectiveness once upgraded and can last for longer. The Siren skill commands Bribón to distract nearby enemies to make himself a target for damage absorption while you attack the bad guys and gals. Once upgraded, Bribón can heal itself constantly, as well as dish out some shock damage to enemies. Finally, the C4 Charge offers Remi a bit of explosive fun by throwing a sticky explosive device at enemies and surfaces. Once upgraded, the skill can have lowered recharge times, increased damage and an even bigger explosion radius.Which Redfall hero will you be vampire-hunting with?
