Fnatic vs Weibo Gaming could spell doom for one of the last EMEA Teams – but can Oscarinin end TheShy’s career, like he promised?

Fnatic vs Weibo Gaming Preview

Fnatic

After G2 Esports’ fall on Saturday, Fnatic is the team that LEC fans can keep trusting. Humanoid and co. avoided elimination on Thursday, defeating Cloud9 in a Bo3 – but they needed five matches in order to overcome the 2nd seed of the LCS. While they ramped up immensely in the 2nd and 3rd matches, the 1st match was not a great showing for them, as Cloud9 could’ve ended fast, but dragged the game out.

Fnatic vs Weibo Gaming

Previously, Fnatic suffered losses from LNG Esports and Bilibili Gaming, but they had highlights against both teams like Razork’s Taliyah against LNG and Noah’s Kai’Sa vs Bin and his teammates. Against GAM Esports, they played their own game, as Razork led the charge alongside Oscar – hopefully, they can show up against Weibo as well.

Fnatic Roster

  • Óscar “Oscarinin” Munoz Jiménez
  • Iván “Razork” Martín Díaz
  • Marek “Humanoid” Brázda
  • Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek
  • Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus

Weibo Gaming

The 4th seed of the LPL with incredible Herald control, WBG defeated NRG and MAD Lions, but couldn’t best G2 and KT Rolster. Their most one-sided match was against KT, and even then, Xiaohu finished with a 6/1/2 scoreline – the only issue was that the rest of the team couldn’t find any respite. Against G2, they held the gold lead for more than 10 minutes and controlled the match from minute 12, but in the end, couldn’t out-teamfight Caps and his teammates.

But their victories have been convincing as they defeated MAD Lions in under 30 minutes in the 2nd match of the Bo3, and they blew NRG out of the water as well. They don’t play as aggressively as other LPL teams and can’t pull off quick wins of the first Baron as consistently, but they have their own strengths.

Weibo Gaming Roster

  • Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok
  • Wei “Weiwei” Bo-Han
  • Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao
  • Wang “Light” Guang-Yu
  • Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song

Fnatic vs Weibo Gaming Predictions

The most interesting part of this match should be the bout between Oscarinin and TheShy in the toplane. While Oscar is more of a tank player, he has stepped up before for Fnatic – even at Worlds during his Poppy game. TheShy also gets weaksided sometimes, but he can get commanding leads on his own, which leads Weibo Gaming to an incredible Herald Control. As a Chinese team, they also play around Baron Nashor a lot, so Fnatic has to be on their highest awareness around 20 minutes to take the first Baron from WBG, or the Chinsese team could make short work of them. Nevertheless, both teams would deserve Knockouts, but only one can keep their dreams alive.
