It’s no whale, but it is the Fisch Whale Shark! In this guide, I tell you how to look out for these gentle giants including their events, preferences and the recommended kit to fish one up for yourself.
You got a bite and fished up the Fisch game link! After casting your line again, you’ve also hooked on our Fisch Great White Shark Guide and Fisch Shortfin Mako Shark Guide.
Fisch Whale Shark Guide
Only obtainable during the Whale Shark Event hunt, this Mythic beast circles its spawn radius out in the Ocean. When one appears, the server will be notified, and a pink name tag and light beam (similar to the Strange Whirlpool beam) reaches into the sky to direct keen fishers.
Unless you have a private server which guarantees no competition, you’ll have to race other players to make it to its hunting grounds and come prepared. I recommend using a Fish Radar obtained from Moosewood, Terrapin and Roslit for 8,000C$. This kit shows the exact square around the Whale Shark where it’s within reach to catch.
The event typically triggers near the red buoy that leads to the Desolate Deep. When snagged, the lucky player will get a pink exclamation mark above their head and a hefty -70% progress speed.
Whale Shark Preferences
Despite not being found outside of the event, you’ll have better chances for the event to trigger and catch if you follow the Whale Shark preferences:
- Bait: Shrimp
- One of the only Mythic Sharks who doesn’t prefer Fish Head bait!
- Weather: Clear
- Time: Day
- The Sundial Totem found on Sunstone Island for 2,000C$ allows the player to alter the day/night cycle once per use.
- Seasons: Summer and Autumn
To catch the Whale Shark, I recommend a rod with a high KG limit and decent resilience or control. This beast weighs in between 5,000-20,000 KG and with that -70% catch speed, you’ll favour something to tolerate the wait time as it wriggles to break free.
