Every rod has a place, filtering into early, mid and late-game, but it’s hard to refine the search and pick the best one for you at each stage. This Fisch Rod Progression guide tells you my choices for the ideal companion rod and why!

Fisch Rod Progression Guide
All players begin with the humble Flimsy Rod, but this rod truly lives up to its name with terrible stats. So, the first thing on any player’s agenda should include purchasing a new early-game rod. Picking the ideal one helps with game progression to earn more money faster, catch rarer fish and complete Bestiaries.
Early Game Rod
Found at Roslit Bay for 7,000 C$, the Steady Rod makes for a great early-game investment. This rod has well-rounded stats, though nothing great enough to push it to mid-game. It’s on the cheaper side as far as rods go and helps catch higher-weight fish with its 100,000 KG limit. On top of this, the Steady Rod boasts 30% resilience, making higher-rarity fish easier to reel in since they won’t whip around the catch minigame bar as much.
However, like most rods, the Steady Rod does have one huge downside. It’s got a hefty -60% lure speed, meaning fish don’t bite your line as often as they do for other rods. This could be fixed with a Hasty Enchant, but it seems pointless to waste relics on a rod deemed early-game in my opinion.
- Lure Speed: -60%
- Luck: 35%
- Control: 0.05
- Resilience: 30%
- Max Kg: 100,000
Mid Game Rod
Using the Steady Rod early game to snag high-value fish by rarity or weight, you’ll soon pocket tons of money and be ready to get the mid-game, Sunken Rod. Well, actually, unlike the previous pick, this one has no monetary value and must be found through RNG! (but money is still vital to get a decent boat and kit such as the Fish Radar and Diving Suits!).
Obtained from Treasure Chests, you have a 1 in 200 chance to get the Sunken Rod. So, this rod also works for early-game players if they get exceptionally lucky! The Sunken Rod has favourable stats with nothing particularly unbalanced about it. Plus, for every 10 catches, there’s a 25% chance the following reel will be a Treasure Map, making it great for grinding them to stockpile rewards.
- Lure Speed: 30%
- Luck: 150%
- Control: 0.15
- Resilience: 15%
- Max KG: 5,000
Ideally, this rod needs an enchant to increase its max KG such as Unbreakable, so players never miss out on chunky fish. Or, if that’s not a concern, Hasty will allow for quicker bites on the line increasing Treasure Map encounters!
Late Game Rod
My pick for the best late-game rod goes to The Rod of The Depths thanks to its highly buffed stats and unique passive ability. This Rod, as implied by the name, can only be obtained from The Depths which players need a 100% completed Vertigo Bestiary to enter. Next, they’ll need a Hexed and Abyssal Enchant Relic to unlock the door leading to this expensive 750,000 C$ rod.
When cast, this rod creates a clone of the player that hovers behind them appearing as a transparent ghost. Every 3 catches, the ghost will reel in a fish alongside the player (totalling 4 fish every 3 catches). This makes The Rod of The Depths great for money farming, especially on high-values. Plus, with well-rounded stats, there isn’t an enchantment necessary to fix it, so players have the freedom of choice.
- Lure Speed: 65%
- Luck: 130%
- Control: 0.15
- Resilience: 10%
- Max KG: 30,000
