There are a few variants of Fisch Lanterns that you can obtain. But how do you get them in the first place? And do they have any real purpose?

Fisch Lanterns
To get a lantern, you need to find the Lantern Keeper! He resides on Moosewood Island, but he’s quite hidden if you don’t know where to find him. While your lantern is mostly cosmetic, depending on its size, it lights the way when you explore darker areas or during the nighttime.
Lantern Keeper Location
The Lantern Keeper hides at the back of Moosewood Island, with a frown on his face, a spinning halo above his head, and black pants.
- At the spawn point in Moosewood, head up the stone steps as usual to reach the area where the Merchant and Angler NPCs stand.
- Head up the small wooden ladder to the left and walk forward until you spot the lighthouse
- The Lantern Keeper stands around this area, but sometimes changes spots. Luckily, he remains in the general location, so he’s not too hard to find!
How to Obtain a Lantern
Once you find him, start a conversation with him! After greeting you, you can ask who he is. He dramatically tells you that his name is the Lantern Keeper, and offers up a deal. If you give him 1K coins, he gives you a random lantern in return.
If you don’t like the lantern you get initially, you can pay another 1K coins to override it. Make sure you definitely want to get rid of your previous lantern though, as once you obtain a new one, the other disappears.
When you buy your first lantern, you get the title ‘The Pupil’. If you manage to get the rare Fairy Lanter, you unlock the ‘The Holy’ title!

- Your average lantern with a faint yellow light
- Bright Blue
- A lantern that glows bright blue
- Camo
- A green lantern covered in leaves
- Magma
- An orange lantern that emits flames
- Orange
- A slightly paler orange glow compared to the Magma lantern
- Paper
- A lovely spherical paper lantern
- Pink
- It glows with a pink light, though it looks a little more purple
- Small
- Small and Bright
- A very small lantern, but it’s quite bright considering the size
- Ultra Bright
- This lantern has an extremely bright white glow, which makes it much easier to explore during the nighttime
- Fairy
- A small light orb that floats near your shoulder with a ring around it
