Fisch Crystalized Rod Guide
Located at the newly discovered Northern Expedition at coordinates 19240, 399 and 6033, you’ll need to get your hands on a fair bit of equipment before purchasing the Crystalized Rod. This is because it resides just high enough that you’ll need an Oxygen Tank to not pass out before meeting its obtainment requirements.
Unlike other areas around Northern Expedition, attempting to crack the ice that encases the rod with a Pickaxe won’t chip it away. Instead, you’ll need to fish up two Glass Diamonds and take them to the rods shrine. Glass Diamonds are of Mythical rarity and can be found in both the Overgrowth Caves and Frigid Cavern with no catch preferences.
This is the part where you need a friend! You and a friend need to hold a Glass Diamond and step on the raised stone platforms behind the rod. Doing so triggers light to reflect through the gems and melt the ice around the rod. Afterwards, you’ll both have access to it for 35,000C$.
Players won’t lose the Diamond after completing the puzzle. And, the rod ice remains melted permanently for both players who contributed.
Crystalized Rod Stats – Is It Worth It?
On top of its fairly decent stats, the rod offers a passive where 10% of caught fish have the Crystalized mutation. Fish with this attribute sells for x1.75 more than their unmutated variant.

- Resilience: 15%
- Max KG: 25,000 KG
Overall, I’d say the rod isn’t worth obtaining. Many players (and myself) agree that the Arctic Rod also obtained from Northern Expedition has better stats for cheaper and without the hassle of puzzles. However, if you’re a completionist like me, 35,000C$ is a small price to pay for a mid-game rod.
