It’s been a good week for film photographers. Just a few days ago, Kodak Moments announced it was bringing Kodak Gold 200 to 120 format. Now, CineStill has followed it up by announcing it’s releasing 400Dynamic, a 400/27° ISO color negative film stock for 35mm, 120mm and, eventually, 4×5 format.

According to CineStill, 400Dynamic was ‘specifically designed for still photography, to be processed in C-41 chemistry’ and ‘features a process-surviving anti-static lubricant coating that will make it an ideal film for both manual SLRs and automatic winding cameras.’

As for its visual qualities, CineStill says 400Dynamic is ‘a fine grain film that delivers a soft color palette with natural saturated color and rich, warm skin tones. The film has a wide dynamic range, with a base sensitivity of ISO 400 but can be rated from 200 to 800, and it can be pushed up to 3200.’

Rather than using the likes of Kickstarter or Indiegogo, CineStill is using its own crowdfunding campaign to get the film into hands of photographers from around the world. It says the first orders will ship out once the crowdfunding is complete (17 days remaining as of publishing this article).
Single rolls of 35mm and 120 format 400Dynamic is available to pre-order for $15 each. You can also purchase various multi-packs, which include additional benefits. As of publishing this article, both the 35mm and 120 formats have reached their backing goal with 4×5 just over 80% funded.
