Fans Want Dormant PlayStation IP Rescued After New Sony Deals

Following Sony’s recent licensing deals with Bandai Namco Entertainment, fans are hoping for more PlayStation IP revival, especially when it comes to beloved franchises that have been dormant for a while. During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, it emerged that Sony has tasked Bandai Namco with bringing back another pair of first-party franchises, but this time, to multiple platforms.

Sony has a treasure trove of neglected PlayStation IP

The deal between Sony and Bandai Namco — which hasn’t been formally disclosed — covers three games thus far: Patapon 1+2 Replay, Everybody’s Golf Hot Shots, and the previously released Freedom Wars Remastered. It’s unclear if Sony plans to extend the agreement to more games, but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping that this is the case.

“Namco, please license Tokyo Jungle from Sony and port it to modern platforms,” begged one ResetEra user. “Praying Soul Sacrifice is saved from the Vita,” wrote another. “Bring this, bring Puppeteer, and bring The Last Guy,” read one response.

And yes, Bloodborne came up too, in case you were wondering.

We can’t fault players for wanting third parties to step in and rescue beloved franchises. Sony has a treasure trove of IP that players would prefer over remakes and remasters like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn.
