Hunting down the Chernobylite achievements was a survival horror treat, but it looks like The Farm 51 is jumping over to the action-RPG genre for its sequel. Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone has been announced for Xbox and will launch on consoles and PC sometime in 2025. Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone announced for consoles and PC”Cut off from the world, trapped in the Zone, attacked by hordes of nightmare creatures, you must fight for survival and unite the handful of remaining survivors,” the Steam description reads.Back in 2021, I fell in love with a game that beautifully recreated the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, blending its ghostly environments with tropes from the survival horror and RPG genres to create a unique gaming experience — one I thoroughly enjoyed in my Chernobylite review. With Igor’s hunt for his missing fiancée, Tatyana, now concluded and Chernobylite’s unnerving atmosphere absorbed by players, it would be difficult to pull off a sequel that wouldn’t feel like a rehash of its great predecessor.Thankfully, The Farm 51’s announcement for Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone calls the upcoming sequel a post-apocalyptic action-RPG, which in my humble opinion, is the perfect direction for another dive into Chernobylite’s mysterious world. With the foundations already laid out, learning more about the strange time-bending material for a sci-fi adventure sounds grand.Little is known about the game right now, but we’ll be playing as a Planewalker, someone “who travels through parallel worlds in search of the precious, high-energy material called Chernobylite.” Many elements from the original game will be making a return, such as base and team management, crafting, a non-linear story, and the beautifully recreated open world. Just looking at the trailer above, it looks like The Farm 51 will be throwing in a third-person mode — it will be first-person “most of the time,” according to a developer on Steam — online co-op, some monstrous new enemy types, and more. Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone launches sometime in 2025, and before the action-RPG drops on Xbox Series X|S, we have Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl to looks forward to, which looks beautiful but deadly in a recent gameplay deep dive.
