Is there a more anticipated video game than Grand Theft Auto 6? Fans are so desperate for a reveal from developer Rockstar that they’re seeing clues in the moon.GTA is no stranger to wild fan theories, but this one is pretty much the most out there yet. It revolves around an image of the moon seen in a promotional image for the GTA Online Moon Festival event. This image, below, includes two characters standing in front of GTA Online’s famous Vinewood sign, obscured in such a way as to leave only the letter V and I visible. VI is six in Roman numerals. This is about the only part of this fan theory that makes any reasonable sense.Image credit: RockstarIt’s all downhill from there. Twitter user @Dirty_Worka had taken a close look at the image of the moon and declared it evidence of an imminent reveal. This moon in the picture is apparently in the Waning Gibbous phase (when the lit-up part of the Moon shrinks from 99.9% to 50.1%). The real moon enters the Waning Gibbous phase today, October 2. Coincidence?Hear me out…The moon in the VI tease tweet from @RockstarGames is a Waning Gibbous at ~85%. The moon enters that phase again on Monday, 2-OCT-2023 and then again on Wednesday, 1-NOV-2023. Could this latest Tweet not only tease VI, but point to the next big announcement? pic.twitter.com/dO78v3eNNq— Dirty_Worka 💀 (@Dirty_Worka) September 29, 2023 Redditor ApprehensiveTop8927 goes further, saying GTA 6 will be revealed tomorrow, October 3. Source? The moon itself.Image credit: redditor ApprehensiveTop8927This theory points out Rockstar tends to announce and release its games on a Tuesday, and, more specifically, it announced Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 on a Tuesday in October. Spooky! But what if?! That’s the question bubbling under the ridicule this theory is receiving. The upshot is pretty much everything Rockstar puts out right now is being analysed to within an inch of its life by GTA fans hungry for GTA 6 clues. For example, a tweet from Rockstar published today, October 2, promotes the Alpine Hat for GTA Online. Seems innocent enough, right?GtA 6 cOnFirMeD!?! pic.twitter.com/tyqsGowwXF— GTABase.com (@GTABase) October 2, 2023 People will overanalyze this picture to find a 6 in roman numbers. pic.twitter.com/rwV5YTfgg5— Rockstar Nation (@RockstarNation) October 2, 2023 I cannot believe Rockstar would leak gta IV using this guy’s V neck shirt and beer bottle 😳 😱😱😱😱😱 pic.twitter.com/RsTPSnGZWe— MJ Hernández (@MJ__Hernandez) October 2, 2023 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯😱😱😱😱💀💔 pic.twitter.com/NcxFccsIcw— لـــؤَي (@LuayPrince) October 2, 2023 pic.twitter.com/xzkXNQK43o— خالد بن فهد 🇸🇦 (@i559r) October 2, 2023 pic.twitter.com/v6VDc2T4gg— marihuano 2009 (@Acido_Arsenioso) October 2, 2023 OMG pic.twitter.com/KodhcZjIrj— maidolee (@MaidoLee) October 2, 2023 Rockstar will of course announce GTA 6 when it’s ready, and with a release date probably set for 2024, it probably won’t be too long before the real tease begins. Until then, perhaps it’s a good time for GTA fans to take a screen break. Wesley is the UK News Editor for IGN. Find him on Twitter at @wyp100.
