Elden Ring Developer FromSoftware Has Sold Shares To Sony And Tencent

FromSoftware, the studio behind the critically acclaimed Elden Ring, has announced that it has sold shares to Sony Interactive Entertainment and Tencent.Parent company Kadokawa Corporation announced that Sixjoy Hong Kong, which is a subsidiary of Tencent, and Sony will own 16.25% and 14.09% of FromSoftware, respectively. The remaining 69.66% will be owned by Kadokawa.Speaking in a notice, the company said that it “recognises the enhancement of capabilities for the creation, development and deployment of game IP as one of the Group’s highest priorities.”Related Content – Sony PS5 Complete Guide – Everything Explained On PlayStation 5 For New UsersThrough the implementation of the fund procurement, FromSoftware will aim to proactively invest in development of more powerful game IP for itself to strengthen FromSoftware’s development capabilities and will seek to establish a framework that allows the expansion of the scope of its own publishing in the significantly growing global market.Elden Ring launched in February 2022 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. Earlier this month, publisher Bandai Namco confirmed that the game had reached 16.6 million in shipments and digital sales worldwide.Elsewhere, Bandai Namco revealed that it is in the process of securing IP and partnerships in wake of a number of acquisitions in the industry.
