Eidos Montreal is reportedly keen on resurrecting the Deus Ex franchise, with the company having regularly pitched new projects without publishers having yet committed to anything. The company has recently been hit by another round of layoffs, with 75 people losing their jobs at the end of March 2025. Prior to that, 97 people were laid off at the start of last year, at which point a new Deus Ex game was also cancelled. However, a source has said that a couple of potential partners feel that Deus Ex was “too niche” at this point, while another said that publishers feel the series come with too much of a financial risk. Few details are available on the nature oaf the new Deus Ex game being pitched, but a source has said the concept had “charm and novelty” but failed to match up with the “expectations or standards typically associated with the Deus Ex brand.” [Source – Insider Gaming]
