EA Sports UFC 5 will release for PS5 on October 27, 2023, EA has confirmed. EA Sports UFC 5 will not release on PS4. In addition to the revelation of EA Sports UFC 5 PS5 release date and platform confirmation, EA has also unveiled a number of core details about its forthcoming MMA offering.Moving away from its own engine that has been used in previous EA UFC titles, EA Sports UFC 5 instead leverages the Frostbite graphics engine technology that has been used in other EA games such as Dead Space, Need for Speed: Unbound and Battlefield 2042, to name just a few.Predictably, the benefits of the latest version of the Frostbite engine being brought to bear in EA Sports UFC 5 are many, with a rock solid 60 frames per second as standard at launch. This is along with hyper detailed character models which now boast improved lighting and shadow work, resulting in sweat and blood that glistens as it’s struck off the bodies of the various fighters and an all-new body damage system which seeks to replicate the real-life violence that so reliably unfurls within the Octagon – making EA Sports UFC 5 the first game in the series to be granted a mature age rating. One thing to note about this improved body damage system however, is that it won’t seek to replicate the most extreme injuries that you might see at a UFC event, such as exploding cauliflower ears or compound fractures. That said, the damage that you can inflict is far more than visual, with repeated kicks to the leg not just bruising up that limb as one would expect, but also reducing mobility and the use of that leg as an offensive weapon into the bargain.Elsewhere, the grappling game has been massively improved, with many more transitions than ever before and the removal of the mini-games seen in previous titles (which arguably take you somewhat out of the experience), my only worry is that without definite UI feedback, it’s going to be tricky and unpredictable to know exactly how close you are too pulling off or blocking a submission.EA Sports UFC 5 also brings a reworked career mode to the table too, as it takes players through a much more in-depth campaign where lingering injuries can build up over time and where opportunities for tune-up fights can be taken at great risk – providing additional fame and experience or resulting in additional wear and teae for your fighter. In addition to all of the above, EA Sports UFC 5 also packs in the following according to the official website for the game:Cinematic K.O. Replay: Cinematic K.O. replays showcase fight-ending finishes with intensified visuals and enhanced excitement. Presented in super slow motion with cinematic angles and lighting, the impact of fight-ending shots represents highlight reel moments recapturing the drama of a UFC fight.Doctor’s Checks and Stoppages: Suffering a notable injury prompts the referee to pause the fight for a ringside doctor’s inspection. Failure to adapt and protect the injury from further damage can lead to a doctor’s stoppage, which introduces true-to-sport strategic variables for players to navigate under heightened pressure.New Strikes and Hit Reactions: New Strike animations emulate heavy hitters, professional kickboxers and more – coupled with new motion variations for ground and pound elbows, spinning attacks, body punches and calf kicks. Plus, the Hit Reaction animations and physics during a frenetic fight can initiate clean connection impacts – moments players can feel with next-level immersion during gameplay.Fight Week and Alter Egos: UFC 5‘s launch includes a revamped live service with features like Fight Week and Fight Picks tied to real-world UFC events. Alter Egos are all new versions of top fighters which capture authentic career-defining moments and provide alternative looks and associated abilities. You can catch the debut trailer for EA Sports UFC 5 below.
