E3 has officially been cancelled for 2022 — we won’t have either a physical or a digital event. Instead, E3 will return in 2023 with a “reinvigorated showcase.” The Entertainment Software Association told PC Gamer that “E3 will return in 2023 with a reinvigorated showcase that celebrates new and exciting videogames and industry innovations,” adding that both a physical and digital event is planned. To IGN, the ESA added, “We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalised physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favourite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience.”In other event news, Geoff Keighley confirmed that the Summer Game Fest returns this June with a “slate of events” and “announcements, news and first looks.” Keighley adds that there will also be some “very cool new elements for ’22.” Just what he means by that, we’ll have to wait and see. What do you think of E3 being cancelled?
