Dying Light celebrates 10th anniversary with freebies, events, and more

It’s been a decade since we started running across rooftops and dodging Volatiles in Haran, and Techland is celebrating Dying Light’s 10th anniversary with free DLC and in-game events. Over the next four weeks, players collecting the Dying Light 2: Stay Human achievements will be able to complete fresh bounties for a host of in-game rewards, while fans of the Xbox zombie game franchise can look forward to “multiple unannounced” Dying Light projects.Techland says “multiple” Dying Light projects are in the worksDying Light’s 10th-anniversary celebrations will run until February 26Dying Light 2’s Tower Raid mode will permanently release during the week starting February 19There are “multiple unannounced” Dying Light projects in the worksTo celebrate a decade since the first game launched in 2015, all Dying Light players will be able to download the new Dying Light: 10th Anniversary Bundle for free until February 10. Techland says the bundle will be available on all platforms, but so far we can only see it on Steam, so fingers crossed it drops on the Xbox store soon.If you’re interested, the store description says, “Released to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Dying Light, this bundle includes the certified Hotshot Outfit, the invaluable Dawnbreaker shotgun, the radiant Sunburst revolver, and the glimmering Golden Idol machete. The gilded appearance of each item is a testament to everything you accomplished in Harran. This bundle also features the Golden Hour buggy paint job, symbolizing your role as a beacon of hope for survivors and a formidable force against enemies.”Alongside the free bundle, we’ll enjoy the return of some fan-favorite events in the original Dying Light, including Hyper Mode, which is now underway. As for its sequel, Dying Light 2, you can unlock a host of items themed around the original game by completing bounties on the Pilgrim Outpost. Techland has also confirmed that further updates are on the way for both games, with the co-op roguelite Tower Raid mode permanently joining Dying Light 2 sometime after February 19. Interestingly, the team also has update plans for the first Dying Light, which will “Focus on improving the visual quality, adding a remastered soundtrack with new music from the original composer Paweł Błaszczak, and more.”Techland says over 45 million players have slaughtered their way through Dying Light and Dying Light 2 since 2015, slaying over 67 billion zombies and racking up over a billion hours of playtime. We know Dying Light: The Beast arrives sometime this summer, but it sounds like much more is in development. Techland says, “Our plans to grow the franchise don’t stop at Dying Light: The Beast,” as the team has “multiple unannounced projects” in development, as well as “new board games, exclusive merchandise, original webcomic series, and more.” If you’re yet to dive into the world of Dying Light, both games are rocking heavy discounts at the moment.
