We were deeply saddened to hear about the recent incident at the holiday drone show in Orlando on Saturday night, December 21st.
Given the nature of this event, we want to clarify that Dronisos was not involved in this event. While we had the honor of organizing Orlando’s Christmas Drone Show in 2023, this year’s event was managed by a different provider.
At Dronisos, safety is not just a priority – it is the cornerstone of our operations. We have built our reputation on delivering stunning drone shows backed by world-class security practices, such as:
In-House Drone Design and Production based in FranceAll our drones are engineered in France—rather than purchased from unknown suppliers—giving us full control over every component and process. We do not trust drones by default, such as those from unknown sources or certain imported models, where we have no visibility over internal safety algorithms. Additionally, when we propose a drone, we manage all software components, from the motherboard firmware to the software embedded in the motors. We partner with major French drone manufacturers like Parrot or Hexadrone.
Dedicated R&D TeamA dedicated team of 15 highly skilled engineers is responsible for developing and maintaining the software that powers both our drones and ground control systems. Their expertise ensures that every aspect of our flight operations is rigorously monitored, tested, and optimized for maximum reliability and safety.
RedundancyOn our most frequently used drone, the Zephyr, based on the industrial Parrot Bebop 2, we have added a second processor dedicated to safety. This processor can independently decide to cut the engines if it detects a risk of the drone leaving the safety zone, regardless of calculations performed by the motherboard.
Immediate Failure ProtocolsIf our drones detect critical inconsistencies in positioning data, we cut the engines and let the drone fall within the safety zone—avoiding the risk of it leaving its secure zone. We never hesitate to interrupt the flight of a drone if there is any risk it could leave the safety area.
Advanced Geocaging SystemsOur drones operate within 4 dimensions geocages, factoring in both 3D positioning and timing. If a drone is not where it should be at a specific moment, we immediately trigger an emergency Return-To-Home or, in extreme cases, force a drop within the safety area.
Certified complianceOur system is validated by Civil Aviation authorities in more than 25 countries, including the FAA in the United States. Multiple audits conducted between 2023 and 2024 confirmed our practices.
Proven Track RecordSince pioneering drone shows in 2016, we have completed millions of flights worldwide—including nightly shows at major theme parks —with zero incidents of a drone straying from its designated area. This can be verified through tens of thousands of public videos recorded by spectators, customer testimonials, and assessments by local civil aviation authorities.
PeopleEven with the best technology, it is crucial that teams are highly trained. To ensure this, Dronisos has created the “Dronisos Academy” on a 1,000-hectare site in Bordeaux (France) and also next to Orlando (USA). Every Flight Director operating for Dronisos is required to attend at least once a year to acquire and maintain their skills.
This list represents just a part of the extensive and thorough safety systems we have in place to ensure every performance is conducted safely and securely.
We understand that such incidents may lead to questions. If you need further information or would like to discuss our safety protocols in greater detail, our team is fully available to assist. We are committed to providing any additional documentation or clarification you may require.
Thank you for trusting Dronisos. We are committed to continuing to deliver magical performances while keeping safety at the heart of everything we do.
Best regards,
Laurent PerchaisCEO | Dronisos
