If you’re working your way through the KartRider: Drift achievements, you will want to start speeding toward the finish line. Developer Nexon has confirmed it is closing the KartRider Drift servers in early 2025, which means a bunch of achievements in the free Xbox game will be discontinued. KartRider: Drift shutting down on Xbox in early 2025In a blog post late last month, Nexon announced out of nowhere plans to shut down the console and mobile versions of KartRider: Drift and refocus its efforts on a PC version of the game only available in Korea and Taiwan. Now, KartRider: Drift director Jaeyun Cho has provided an update on the server closure, revealing that Nexon is shutting down the console version of the free-to-play racing game in early 2025. “We plan to proceed with the service separation later this month that will allow us to continue to provide a stable service in the best way we can,” Cho said. “Korea and Taiwan’s PC platforms will be separated from the current service, and going forward will be managed separately. Separate from Korea and Taiwan’s PC Platform service, the Console, Mobile, and Global services will stay within a single service. These two services will be available for all players depending on their platform and location.”This upcoming August update is currently planned to be the final one for Console, Mobile, and Global players. This separated service will remain live until early next year, and you can continue to play until that time. We will follow up with a separate announcement with more details in the near future.”While both of Nexon’s blog posts are pretty lengthy, a specific server closure date has not been mentioned, so if you are thinking about going for all of the KartRider: Drift achievements, you’ll want to knock them out sooner rather than later. A total of 22 achievements will be discontinued once the server closure hits, and estimates suggest it will take around 100 hours to earn the 1,000G. However, it seems this estimate could be out of date and may end up taking much longer. On top of this, it looks like specific tracks are no longer in rotation, so KartRider: Drift may be impossible to complete for new players. In other server shutdown news, servers for four Xbox games will close in September.
