If your backpack is filled with Onyx, Jasper or other Jewels in Dragon’s Dogma 2, here’s what to do with them.
It’s been a while since we’ve had an Action RPG that’s been anywhere near as big as Dragon’s Dogma 2. But it’s finally here, and despite some of the performance issues in the game, such as stuttering on PC, the game looks pretty good. The world is absolutely massive, and the gameplay is every bit as amazing as we expected from the developers.
Now, in games like this, hoarding is a real problem for some players, including us. Since you can pick up pretty much anything, after a while, your backpack becomes filled with junk items that you won’t use anytime soon. But jewels such as Onyx or Jasper don’t really fall into that category.
These are valuable items that you can sell for a pretty good amount of Gold to the right merchant. But should you really be selling them? Do they serve any other purpose than being an easy source of Gold when you want to buy that shiny new armor? Can you use them for crafting?
These are the questions that we’ll answer in this article. Let’s get started.
What To Do With Dragon’s Dogma 2 Onyx, Jasper, and Other Valuable Jewels?

If you’re looking to earn some Gold, here’s the good news – Jewels are perfectly safe for you to sell. They typically fetch you a decent amount of Gold. And apart from selling, they serve no other purpose. You could alternatively give them as gifts to romance certain characters, but you can’t use them for any crafting purposes.
However, before you sell them in bulk to any odd merchant out there, it’s best to read the item description first. For example, reading Onyx’s item description will reveal that this Jewel is “scarcely seen in Vernworth.”
That means, if you decide to sell it in a shop at Vernworth, you’ll be able to get a bit of extra Gold for it since it’s rarer here. We sold it at Roderick’s Smithy and got 2400 for each one. You can read each of the Jewel’s descriptions to help you figure out where each gem is rare. Then Fast Travel to the location and sell for a good profit.
As for the romance options, giving Jewels such as Jasper or Onyx to NPCs will increase your affinity with them. Each piece of Jewel usually earns 50 points of favor when you gift them, and they can make it easier for you to unlock the Romance options for the NPC.
How to Farm Valuable Jewels in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As we said, Jewels can be a good source of Gold in Dragon’s Dogma 2 so learning where you can farm them can come in handy when you’re saving up for something. You can usually farm them from certain enemies, get them from rare chests and sometimes they come as rewards for completing a quest or an activity.
Onyx for instance, can drop from Goblins and Knackers on the outskirts of Vernworth. Tiger Eye on the other hand can be farmed from killing Choppers that spawn near Guerco Mountain Road.
As long as you comb through each area as you visit, you should be able to find plenty of chests that contain these valuables. And before you know it, you’ll be saving up a decent Gold in the bank in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Good luck!
