We take a closer look at Team Spirit and their chances at the biggest prize pool in esports.
Team Spirit is one of the Dota 2 teams from CIS that has proven itself over time. Even though it does not have the name and background of Virtus.Pro, TS showed everyone that they shouldn’t be underestimated.
Despite their mediocre performance throughout the DPC season, Team Spirit eventually managed to qualify for TI 10. The biggest event in Dota 2 is about to begin in a couple of weeks, but instead of qualifying directly, TS had to battle in the qualifiers. It definitely wasn’t easy, but the team was able to win when it mattered the most.
Team Spirit are one of the top CIS teams
CIS was one of the many Dota 2 regions that were negatively impacted by the COVID-19. Fortunate, this region is close to Europe, which is why there were several events where TS played alongside some of the EU powerhouses.
After failing to impress at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor, Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk, and the other people from his team didn’t do that well in the subsequent events either. Luckily, It seems like the team learned from the mistakes they’ve made. After becoming 4th at the Epic Prime League Season 1, TS won the BTS Pro Series Season 4: EU/CIS. This was the last tournament for 2020 because it took place in December.
The 2021 Season
This year did not start as well as TS hoped for, but after the first DPC Upper Division, TS drastically improved. The CIS powerhouse became second at the Epic League Season 3 Div 1 and won the Dota 2 Championship League 2021 S1. A few weeks later, TS became second at the S2 DPC Upper Division and won the Pinnacle Cup. The latter included some of the best teams in the region, so it was a very important event for Team Spirit.
Sadly, Team Spirit was unable to show their prowess at the WePlay AniMajor, where they finished 7th/8th. The team had a mountain to climb in the face of Vici Gaming, which was doing really well at that time. Needless to say, the Chinese powerhouse was able to deal with the CIS team.
Following the loss at the Major, Team Spirit achieved their biggest success – winning the Eastern Europe TI qualifiers. This secured them a sport for the biggest tournament of the year. After that, Team Spirit also won the Dota 2 Championship League 2021 Season 2. They even got 2nd place at OGA Dota Pit Invitational, which features very good teams. Unfortunately, TS was unable to impress its opponents while playing at ESL One Fall 2021. Interestingly, Miroslaw “Miroslaw” Kolpakov and his teammates.
Team Spirit is one of the CIS squads that can explode at any second. Despite being the underdog, the team has enough potential to stand its ground and even win the entire tournament. This won’t be easy because they will play against the most talented Dota 2 players in the world.
