New Doom and Doom II achievements are available, as new enhanced versions of the originals are out as a “single combined release” for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Game Pass, as well as for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Just in time, too, as our August section of upcoming Game Pass games was looking a little lonely. If you already owned Doom or Doom 2, you can get the new version via a free update, and you can get started with those Doom and Doom 2 achievements through the new Game Pass release now! “Developed by id Software, and originally released in 1993, Doom pioneered and popularized the first-person shooter, setting a standard for all FPS games. The critically acclaimed sequel, Doom II, followed in 1994. Now the definitive, newly enhanced versions of Doom + Doom II are available in a single combined release,” Bethesda says, adding that “this definitive enhanced version is our biggest effort yet,” with the new Legacy of Rust episode, online cross-platform deathmatch and co-op, the new Deathmatch map pack, upgraded visuals, and more. You can see some of this reflected in the new achievement list below: there are 33 achievements worth a total of 1,000 Gamerscore, none of which are secret.Doom and Doom 2 achievements Name Description GamerscoreGuns Are For Wusses Get 25 kills with your Fists in a single level. 15Until It Is Done Get 100 Chainsaw kills. 15Shoot It Until It Dies Finish off a Cyberdemon with the Pistol. 15Groovy Get 3 multi-kills with the Shotgun. 15Skeet Shooting Kill 4 enemies in 1 shot with the Super Shotgun. 15Heavenly Joy Shoot 200 bullets consecutively with the Chaingun. 15Bowling for Gibs Gib three or more enemies with a single rocket explosion. 30Cookin’ With Plasma Kill 5 enemies in 5 seconds with the Plasma Rifle. 15Overkill Kill only a single enemy with a BFG9000 blast. 15Timing Is Everything Kill 2 enemies with a single barrel explosion. 30Doormat Crush a corpse in a door. 15Overprepared Finish a level with 200% armor and 200% health. 15Indiscriminate Headhunter Kill one of every enemy. 45Not So Friendly Fire Cause an enemy to kill another enemy. 30More Like a Dream Complete a level on Nightmare difficulty. 45Hoarder Finish a level with 100% items picked up. 30The Only Thing They Fear Is You Complete any monster-filled level with 100% kills without getting hurt on Ultra-Violence or higher. 45An Important Looking Door Find a secret area. 15Alternate Dimension Find a secret level. 30Clean Slate Kill all monsters in any monster-filled level on ‘Hurt me plenty’ or higher. 15Burning Out of Control Complete any monster-filled level with 100% kills, items, and secrets. 30A Man and a Half Get 20 kills using the berserk powerup in a single level. 15Untouchable Complete 8 different levels sequentially under par time without dying on Ultra-Violence or higher. 45Kill It With Fire Immolate a total of 30 arachnoid enemies with the Incinerator. 15Screen Wipe Obliterate 50 enemies with a single shot of the Calamity Blade. 30DOOM Reach the end of ‘DOOM’. 50Sigil Reach the end of ‘Sigil’. 50DOOM II Reach the end of ‘DOOM II’. 50No Rest for the Living Reach the end of ‘No Rest for the Living’. 50Master Levels Reach the end of ‘Master Levels for DOOM II’. 50Evilution Reach the end of ‘TNT: Evilution’. 50Plutonia Reach the end of ‘The Plutonia Experiment’. 50Legacy of Rust Reach the end of ‘Legacy of Rust’. 50If you already owned either game, you can get a free upgrade for the new “combined” game. While Doom (1993) and Doom II (Classic) have now been removed from the Microsoft Store, you can still access the previous versions of these games, if already owned, from your library. It appears you can still play them through Game Pass, too. As for the new versions, you can play through Game Pass or buy the re-releases for $9.99/£7.99, and the supported resolutions and framerates are 1080p at 60 FPS for Xbox One, 4K at 60 FPS for Xbox One X, and 4K at 120 FPS for Xbox Series X|S.As for what’s included with the new versions: “Created in collaboration by individuals from id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames, Legacy of Rust is the newest episode for Doom, and the first official episode since Doom II to feature new demons and weapons.” It revolves around a base which the Union Aerospace Corporation lost to the Ones Beneath, and which, naturally, you’ll need to reclaim. Then there’s the id Vault, “enhanced” co-op with new rules, four-player split-screen multiplayer (with eight-player split-screen for Xbox Series X|S), online multiplayer across 43 Deatchmatch levels (boosted by the new Deathmatch map pack) and co-op episodes, cross-play multiplayer, upgrade visuals, “modern” controller support, and more.As for what’s to come with the future of Doom, we’ve got Doom: The Dark Ages launching in 2025, although as it’s releasing for PS5 as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC, it doesn’t get a place on the list of upcoming Xbox exclusives.
