Don’t miss Xbox Game Pass getting the tiny Buckshot Roulette soon

Buckshot Roulette is coming to Xbox Game Pass sometime soon. Those of you in the horror realm of PC might have already heard of it, given its virality there, but this tiny (technically 20-minute long) itch.io game has a great reputation for being a weird combination of Inscryption and Russian Roulette. So, as we sometimes do here, I’m going to recommend you keep a close eye on Mike Klubnika’s game!Kes hopes you don’t miss — Tiny indie game Buckshot Roulette’s utterly bizarre vibesIf you are weighing up the game, make sure you keep the Buckshot Roulette achievements at hand!Game Pass? Yes, at an undisclosed dateGenre: Horror, Tabletop, StrategyLet’s run through the details before I start with the upcoming Xbox Game Pass games recommendation. Buckshot Roulette was developed by an Estonian guy called Mike Klubnika and released on itch.io in 2023, a website where indie devs can publish games. It features a twist on the classic Russian Roulette game where the player spins a barrel before shooting it at themselves; living or dying becomes a game of odds. Here, the revolver typically used has been replaced by a shotgun with a combination of blank and live shots. Messy. So, you’ll sit around a table with someone called the Dealer. You’ll choose who to shoot the shotgun at. Eventually, modifiers enter the game to change it up, and you’ll get a few narrative strands happening, too. A round can last 20 minutes, but it has so much replay value that you’ll be circling back over and over again to the point you can lose hours to it.The game was ported to Steam in mid-2024 and sold over 4 million copies to date. Later in the game’s life, more modes were added, including a four-player multiplayer mode. Needless to say, it has a cult-like following and had a great critical reception on PC. Here in console-land, I think there’s a high chance many haven’t heard of it!One of the first things that stuck with me was the Inscryption-like art style. I think it sells the dark, horror tone. The similar arcadey twist on a recognizable ‘game’ has the vibes of the aforementioned card game alongside something like Balatro’s poker twist. So, if either of those two games caught your eye, I think Buckshot Roulette would be well worth a go.Plus, clocking in at under two hours but with replayability means it won’t be a massive commitment when it drops — just an easy game to experiment with. The reward, if you get hooked, is more than worth the trade-off. Plus, I just think that the concept is so cool, and Russian Roulette has those freaky horror undertones at the best of times!Buckshot RouletteIt’s not like the game would be expensive anyway (it’s $2.39 on Steam), but the accessibility and visibility it’ll get with Game Pass means it could well be a game that you’ll hear everyone in the Xbox community start talking about very suddenly. Remember how Vampire Survivors was suddenly just a big part of everyone’s lives? Yeah, I hope for that here, too — if it’s a good port!In any case, it’ll join the long list of Xbox Game Pass games soon enough, and you can check it out yourself. Have you played it already?
