The next update for Grounded is a big one. Called the Make It and Break It update, Obsidian will be adding a Playground mode to its sandbox game filled with all the tools you need to make and share your very own games, from puzzles to full mini-games. Inspired by the modding community, the Make It and Break It update offers a suite of building tools featuring nearly every object found in the base game and the ability to position everything to your liking, down to the individual blades of grass. Plus, with a feature called Gadgets and Gizmos, you’ll be able to build game mechanics for your custom gamesDuring a preview with Xbox Wire, the team revealed some levels that have already been created internally using the tools, which included a “hand-crafted Colosseum with waves upon waves of enemies to battle, and a sound-based puzzle game where players have to identify critters by the sounds that they make.” With no limit on the number of objects you can make, you can create almost anything in the Playground mode.“We focused on creating a cool narrative experience for 1.0, and continued to add quality of life updates, more variety, and cool features,” game director Adam Brennecke told Xbox Wire. “We got to a point where the [backyard] felt really fleshed out, we were happy with all of the content in-game, and this felt like the next thing to do.”  Alongside the new suite of tools, the Make It and Break It update also includes a number of changes and new additions to the base game. The team has added additional challenges to the Burgle quests, which focus on some of the early game systems for new players, the dandelion glider won’t take up a trinket spot anymore, combat adjustments will be rolled out, and new set pieces will arrive for base building. It doesn’t look like Obsidian has a release date for the Make It and Break It update just yet, but if you fancy jumping in to unlock some Grounded achievements beforehand, it’s available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Plus, you can play it alongside some of the best games on Game Pass and PC Game Pass if you have a subscription.
