When Disney Dreamlight Valley was revealed, Gameloft announced that the life-sim adventure game would be free-to-play for all once it left early access. Players who wanted to play the game while it was still in early access could check it out either through Xbox Game Pass or by purchasing a Founders Pack. Now, Gameloft has confirmed that Disney Dreamlight Valley will finally leave early access in December, but the game will not be going free-to-play. Over on the Disney Dreamlight Valley website, Gameloft says Disney Dreamlight Valley will leave early access on December 5. However, for those who were hoping to start unlocking the Disney Dreamlight Valley achievements for free once it is released in full, you’re unfortunately now going to have to stump up some cash. “As we look ahead to the official launch, with the learnings we’ve gained from Early Access, we’ve made the decision to remain a paid game for the foreseeable future,” Gameloft said on the DDV website. “This means we will not make the transition to be a free-to-play game when we leave Early Access on December 5.”This choice ensures that Disney Dreamlight Valley will be able to continue delivering on a premium game experience for all players. It’s important to us that we maintain our promise to keep delivering free content updates that add new characters, realms, clothing, furniture, and more surprises to your Valley.”Gameloft goes on to say that purchases requiring Moonstones will “remain optional, fair, and match the level of quality players have come to expect” and that “players will still be able to collect free Moonstones via Dream Snaps and Chests, or optionally choose to purchase them.”At the moment, Disney Dreamlight Valley is playable via Xbox Game Pass. Gameloft has not clarified if it will remain in the service when it leaves early access. With Disney Dreamlight Valley moving over to a premium release model, Gameloft has unveiled new launch game editions of the game, on top of the recently announced Cozy Edition. New players will be able to purchase the game on its own or a new Gold Edition, which includes exclusive cosmetics, a newly announced paid expansion called Rift In Time, and bonus Moonstones. For those who have already purchased a Founders Edition (or does so before December 4) will be given all the unique cosmetic items from the Gold Edition for free. All those with founders packs will also receive 2,500 Moonstones. Gameloft says it will reveal more about Disney Dreamlight Valley’s first major expansion, A Rift In Time, in a special showcase, which broadcasts on YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Live on November 1 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 5pm GMT.
