The Pittsburgh Panthers were able to find a way to beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to get Kedon Slovis on their roster.

It looks like Notre Dame Fighting Irish may have just missed out on a quarterback who could have been a true difference maker for their team. Kedon Slovis, who was previously a quarterback for the USC Trojans, entered the transfer portal and has found his next team.

Slovis is officially set to compete for the starting job with the Pittsburgh Panthers as Kenny Pickett leaves for the NFL.

Kedon Slovis transfer portal update: Pittsburgh Panthers beat Notre Dame Fighting Irish for former USC quarterback

With two years of eligibility left, Slovis has a shot at making a real impact with Pitt.

The Panthers are working on wrapping up a banner season in which they were able to beat the Clemson Tigers, go on to win the ACC Championship, produce a Heisman Trophy finalist, and make it to the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl against the Michigan State Spartans.

Pitt’s stock seems to be pretty high and there’s a real chance this program keeps rolling with the way the ACC is always unpredictable.

The Panthers will have to replace their offensive coordinator, Mark Whipple, but with the way this program looks, there’s a good shot they’ll find someone to step in and continue the momentum that Whipple had going with this offense.

Slovis wasn’t always the most consistent with the Trojans, but he’s got a pretty high ceiling. During his time out at USC, Slovis threw for 7,576 yards and 58 touchdowns while also throwing 24 interceptions. It’ll be fascinating to see how his transfer to Pitt plays out.
