For consumers, PlayStation VR2 really looks to be like a truly new, and upgraded version of the VR system Sony created the first time around, and it looks like the same goes for developers. In a talk at CEDEC 2022, Yasuo Takahashi and Kenjo Akiyama spoke about the upcoming VR console, and how its been developed to make it easier this time around for other studios to port their games to the platform.Special features were implemented in the design of the console for the betterment of those who’d be working on the device, such as the GPU’s FSR, or flexible scale rasterization. It’s a method that gives developers full control over pixel density and greatly optimizes their ability to render anything based on where the player is looking.New development tools were also introduced, like VR Trace, which helps developers identify issues quickly, and even allows for a developer to work on a VR game without a connected headset. This is all good news to hear, that developers ought to have an easier time with PSVR2. It raises hopes that more teams will want to develop for the platform, which means more games, which is good for players.Source – [IGN]
