Bungie has announced that Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion and Tangled Shore will be vaulted once the game’s next expansion launches next year. On February 22nd, 2022, the day Destiny 2’s The Witch Queen expansion launches, both the Forsaken campaign and the Tangled Shore destination will enter the Destiny Content Vault. Year 4 seasonal content, including the Presage and Harbinger Exotic missions, are also facing the axe and will be removed. Not all of Forsaken’s content will disappear, however. Bungie says that the Dreaming City destination, Last Wish raid, Shattered Throne dungeon, the Warden of Nothing and Proving Grounds strikes, and the Battlegrounds mode will all remain. In February, Battlegrounds will be combined with strikes into a new playlist that will be free for all players called Vanguard Operations. Also, with Spider gone, currency exchange will be handled by Master Rhaloo in the Tower. In a blog post, Bungie explains that vaulting this content will allow the developer “space to launch The Witch Queen expansion and its new Throne World destination, as well as new features like weapon crafting, the new Legendary difficulty campaign option, the new Glaive weapon archetype, plus all the additional content we have planned for the four new Seasons to come starting in February.”As of December 7th, 2021, Bungie is making the Forsaken campaign free for all players up until The Witch Queen’s launch in February. The developer also announced the Forsaken Pack, which goes on sale on December 7th and includes access to the Last Wish raid, the Shattered Throne Dungeon, and all of Forsaken’s exotics. The pack contains three Forsaken Ciphers that can be used to instantly unlock Forsaken Exotics unless they are raid or dungeon exclusives. Everyone who previously purchased the Forsaken expansion will automatically be given the new Forsaken Pack. On the achievement front, we could have a few discontinued achievements on our hands. Looking at the Forsaken list, Nothing Left to Say will most definitely be discontinued if things remain as they are as it’s related to Forsaken’s campaign. An Exotic Journey could also possibly be discontinued, but we aren’t sure for certain. In the past, when it’s vaulted content, Bungie has been pretty good at changing achievement requirements, so they remain unlockable — here’s hoping it does something similar. If you have any other info on potentially discontinued achievements, let us and the community know in the comments. Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion and Tangled Shore will be removed from the game on February 22nd, 2022.
