Dying Light 2 Stay Human launched more than three years ago, but its creator, Techland, has continued to support the game since then through major updates and events. Some audiences might have been concerned that the studio’s next game, the upcoming Dying Light: The Beast, would shift attention away from the team’s prior work, but, fortunately, as we’ve just learned through an interview with the series’ franchise director, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
Even after hitting credits on Dying Light 2, players have found plenty of reasons to return to the open-world game over and over again. Techland has hosted seasonal events, provided small and large updates to the base game, and even added in a permanent roguelike mode called Tower Raid following its success as a limited-time feature.
This level of support doesn’t seem to be going away, according to Dying Light Franchise Director Tymon Smektala. Smektala says, in an interview with Prankster 101, that Techland is “not abandoning Dying Light 2” and that it “will still get all of the support that we have promised, so at least five years of support.”
He explained that “new updates are coming” and that DL2 “might be growing in parallel with The Beast” once the latter game launches. This sort of ongoing support appears to be part of Techland’s goal to, per Smektala, “make Dying Light the ultimate zombie experience,” across not just a series of games, but what the team now considers “as a franchise.”
While we wait to see what, exactly, that means going forward, now is a good time to jump into Dying Light 2. The game’s Reloaded Edition is currently available with a 67% discount, bringing its price down to $19.79 USD / £18.14 until April 28. Grab a copy right here.
