Descenders Next brings more extreme sports to Xbox Game Pass in 2025

If you’ve tested your metal against the Descenders achievements and have been hoping for more, we have some good news: Descenders Next is coming to Xbox Game Pass next year. We don’t have a release window just yet, but at least we know that the next iteration of the Xbox sports game is on the way.Descenders Next announced for Xbox Game PassDescenders has been a hit since launching six years ago, having been played by over 30 million players, so it likely comes as no surprise that RageSquid is looking to continue the franchise. Unlike its predecessor, Descenders Next won’t focus on downhill cycling, instead offering boarding sports to enjoy in high-speed bouts of fun.According to the press release, Descenders Next will focus on boarding sports when it launches next year, taking us to snow-capped mountain tops for snowboarding and gritty highlands for mountainboarding. Each sport is said to handle “completely different to the others,” and with a host of tricks to learn, you’ll be able to slide and grind your way through the game’s “procedural off-piste mountains that chain together into tight, winding parks and vistas.”When not exploring the open world, Parks will offer you playgrounds filled with challenges, such as racing down mountains, performing tricks, or embarking on Scavenger Hunts for “special rewards.” No matter what you do, you’ll be rocking to a Monstercat soundtrack along the way.After six years of support, Descenders is a fairly fleshed-out experience, and RageSquid says Next will be just as feature-rich. Full online multiplayer will be available, “multiple huge biomes” will be explorable, and earnable rep will offer you a currency to purchase many cosmetic items. Interestingly, No More Robots has only mentioned “Steam and Game Pass” as platforms, which suggests that Descenders Next will come to PC Game Pass. However, looking at the What’s Next For Descenders trailer, it features Xbox Game Pass as a platform, so perhaps we will see this one launch on console too.We’ve still got quite some time until Descenders Next leaves our list of upcoming Game Pass games, so we’ll hopefully learn plenty more as we inch closer to the big day.
