The hit FPS game developed by Ghost Ship Games now has its own spin-off by the name of Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, and instead of following the same FPS format, devs Funday Games has reimagined the franchise into a top-down roguelike shooter game. At first glance, it might seem like a jarring change but the change is handled very well and translates smoothly into the single-player rogue-like experience that Survivor offers.
Of the many things that the two games have in common, weapons are one of them. In Survivors, there’s an extensive assortment of weapons/equipment that you can use to wreak havoc on the hordes of enemies you’ll face, but amongst all the options, it might be overwhelming for a new player on what you should pick. Deepcore GK2 – Assault Rifle
The Deepcore GK2 is the first contender on our list because of how accessible it is for everyone. This is the standard assault rifle you’ll have in the game, one that’s known for how consistent and reliable it is. For a starter weapon, it’s considerably strong and can carry most levels for you.
Assault rifles are generally a very reliable option in most games, and DRG: Survivor makes no exception with the Deepcore GK2. What makes this gun even more dependable is that you can toss in any of the upgrades you get into this gun, whether it’s a bad roll or not and spend the best ones into your main weapons.
M1000 Classic – Semi Automatic Rifle
Next up, we have the semi automatic sniper rifle, M1000 Classic. Although it has a comparatively slow rate of fire, this sniper rifle is a hard-hitter and can do it from quite a long range as well. The M1000 falls into the category of consistent weapons too, as it will do plenty of damage to pretty much every enemy we’ve seen in the game.
DRAK-25 Plasma Carbine – Assault Rifle
The next contender on our list is the DRAK-25 Plasma Carbine. This one’s rather different from the guns mentioned previously, but it doesn’t stop it from being in the list of best weapons. This armament will shoot plasma rounds in all directions but the catch is that it’ll bounce off the walls, covering a LOT of area at once. Weapons with functions like these do exceptionally well in Survivors especially, considering the amount of enemies that will ambush and crowd you.
Jury Rigged Boomstick – Shotgun
This shotgun will definitely have your games rigged in your favor thanks to the knockback it has, along with the fact that it shoots multiple pellets at the same time. If someone gets too close, then it’s bad news for them since it does extra damage the closer the enemies are. Add that with the knockback and you have a really solid weapon for Survivor.
Cryo Grenade – Throwable
The last weapon on this list might surprise you, and it’s the Cryo Grenade. That’s right, it’s not even a gun, but a throwable instead. It packs serious damage and its main trait is the AOE damage that it offers, affecting multiple enemies at once while also getting rid of 90% of them. If that’s not enough, upgrading the Cryo Grenade will turn it into a cluster bomb, which means there will be smaller explosions around the main big explosion. We really don’t need any math to figure out how strong that is.
All in all, the Cryo Grenade is definitely the most busted weapon in the game right now, and if you can get your hands on one, it’s highly recommended that you use it. Even if you get it late game, the stock grenade itself is extremely strong so you don’t need to invest a huge amount of upgrades into it.
