Hideo Kojima has revealed that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach difficulty settings will feature a special option for those struggle with its boss battles. Apparently, those who die during a boss fight will be given the option to continue playing the game without attempting the fight again, but they won’t be missing anything important.
Death Stranding 2 difficulty setting turns boss battles into visual novels
In a recent episode of his radio show, Hideo Kojima revealed (translated by X user Genki_JPN) that the aforementioned option will turn Death Stranding 2’s boss battles into visual novels of sorts, presumably on the easiest/story difficulty.
According to a translation of the show, those who choose to skip boss battles will get a visual and text description of the fight.
We’re sure the “git gud” brigade will be upset by this, so we want to emphasize that this is an “option,” not a forced feature. Video games are increasingly becoming integrated with other forms of mainstream entertainment, and it makes sense for Kojima to appeal to a wider audience especially considering his love for films and other media.
Death Stranding 2 will release on June 26, 2025 exclusively for the PS5. Although Sony has publishing rights to the game, the IP is now under the ownership of Kojima Productions.
