Dead by Daylight’s Blood Moon event is back, but this time it comes with all-new surprises. The annual celebration is all about earning, and spending, the most Bloodpoints possible, which means faster progression for new, returning, and longtime players. This time, however, Behaviour Interactive has an ace up its sleeve, in the form of an entirely new type of generator.
“Following last year’s Blood Moon, we received feedback that the unique Event gameplay felt too detached from the primary gameplay objective,” Behaviour writes in a new Dead by Daylight blog post. “We wanted to create an experience that remained true to Dead by Daylight, while still honoring the unique theming of the Blood Moon.”
This means the Blood Moon’s return comes with a new gameplay element: Blood Generators. These will replace four out of seven generators during a Trial from the event, and it’ll change how you play the multiplayer game. You’ll need to pick up a Blood Can to collect liquid from a Blood Pump, which can then be taken to the all-new generator.
Beware, though, because these leaky cans leave quite a trail. They even produce sound and reduce charges as you run, so you’ll need to adopt a stealthier approach to succeed. Survivors will need to constantly be on the move to get these Blood Generators filled, while Killers can track what’s remaining at a pump to get an idea of a Survivor’s location.
Keep in mind that you’ll still need to repair five generators as a Survivor, meaning your overall objective is the same as ever. However, Behaviour does note that Killer Powers, Add-Ons, and Items will not interact with these generators in an effort to “keep the design space open.” The team says this is “allowing us to experiment with new ways to interact with Blood Generators in the future. It’s also an opportunity to explore new loadouts and playstyles, so dust off some of those Perks you’ve been sleeping on and get cooking.”
Behaviour is also testing a new five million Bloodpoint cap in the game, so you can stock up on even more currency during the Blood Moon event.
The 2025 Dead by Daylight Blood Moon event is running from now until Tuesday April 29. You can find the full announcement here.
